I have the good fortune, though my students may argue that point, to teach Clothed Figure Drawing at the Academy of Art University.I learned most of what I know from the amazing Barbara Bradley. I am weeding my demo drawings, of which I seem to have a lot, and here are the first in a series of mostly short drawings, these having to do with legs and he curves in the body, and in particular, seeing the tapering shapes, wonderful curves and rhythms that they possess. If you can't see, understand, and emphasize when the model has with little clothing on, then drawing them with clothes on will never be achieve what you want. So we go back and forth a lot in class. I hope that you enjoy, and I will post more from the files as I shoot my way though.

OK, so if you are into illustration history go to this site, awesome stuff from Bruce Hettema, the inheritor of the art files from Patterson Hall, one of San Francisco's oldest and best studios. Some of the real west coast greats worked there through the decades and Bruce has done a terrific job honoring their memory while keeping the PH tradition alive. www.realretrosource.com.

Seems strange, indeed, but it has been a year since successful cancer surgery! Amazing how time flies, and though I miss the ol' prostate, it is far better to be cancer free. Gentlemen: GET yourself checked! Don't wait, if you are near 50, just do it. It was the last thing that I expected and most unexpected news, but with a great surgeon, like mine, things can go really well. The alternative is very protracted, and unpleasant way to die. One upside: Instant birth control!
